There will be no news from Final Fantasy 16 until spring 2022

The producer of the Final Fantasy saga, Naomi Yeshiva, has published a statement in the official Twitter account of Final Fantasy XVI explaining to the fans that they should not expect news of the game until, at least, next year.

I had promised more information about Final Fantasy XVI at the end of 2021. However, I regret to inform you that I will not be able to fulfill that promise because of the complications that have emerged as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which have delayed development to the Less half a year.

According to Yeshiva, the pandemic has forced the study to accommodate its workers so that they can continue their work from their homes, which has led to a worse communication with the Headquarters of Tokyo, and this has caused delays or even cancellations in deliveries of the external studies that collaborate in the project.

Apparently, Square Enix has spent all 2021 trying to tackle this problem, and the development is expected to return to its normal rhythm at the beginning of 2022. The new news about the game, therefore, would be delayed until spring.
